Jobs in Intelligent Software and Agent Systems Research

The Intelligent Systems Research group at BT Laboratories is
conducting advanced research and development into Intelligent Software
and Agent Systems. The group has many years experience and has
published widely on its intelligent systems research.
The group is looking to recruit skilled software engineers who are
interested in joining its expanding research programme. Candidates
will join established teams and work in a challenging and innovative
environment. The group maintains strong links with other leading
international research organisations and universities. It is also
involved in transferring new technologies into operational systems.
The successful applicant(s) will be working in a research-oriented
environment for one of the largest telecommunications companies in the
world. BT Research Laboratories has a well-established track record
for developing leading-edge technologies for the telecommunications
industry. The Laboratories are based in Suffolk, England.
Vacancies exist on a number of research projects looking at :
collaborative agent-based systems
agent-based process management
distributed AI
workflow technology
soft computing
Suitable candidates should have a Good first degree (2.1 or above) in
a computing related subject (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics,
Electronic Engineering), an interest in intelligent systems, 2~3 years
experience in software engineering and a familiarity with at least 3
of the following :
Programming: C, C++, Java (WWW)
Systems: Unix, Windows NT/95, CORBA
Tools: OO A&D (e.g. OMT), E-R modelling, MATLAB
An appropriate postgraduate research qualification, (MS or PhD) would
be useful but this is not essential.
