A Postdoc position is available at the German National Research Center for
Information Technology (GMD), Institute for Applied Information Technology,
Research Division for "Human-Computer Interaction".
GMD (http://www.gmd.de) is jointly owned by the Federal Republic of Germany
and the states of Hessia and Northrhine-Westfalia. Its principal location
is in Sankt Augustin near Bonn, with further sites in Darmstadt and Berlin
and an office in Tokyo. GMD has approximately 1200 employees and an annual
budget of 170 mio. DM.
The research division "Human-Computer Interaction" (http://zeus.gmd.de)
has several European and National research grants in the areas of user
modeling, customization of information based on user needs, and
software-agents for information retrieval and information brokering.
The Postdoc candidate should design and implement innovative concepts for
information adaptation, information brokering, and information retrieval in
the World-Wide Web, and validate and disseminate the results.
The competative salary is based on the German BAT IIa or Ib salary schemes,
depending on work experience and qualifications. The initial contract will
be for two years with possibilites for prolongment.
Desired qualification include a PhD in Computer Science or a related
discipline; experiences in the design and implementation of advanced
information systems based on the WWW and/or agent-based technologies;
practical experiences with development environments and tools for the WWW;
familiarity with user modeling and the design of adaptive systems.
