Applicants should have a background and interest in one or more of the following areas: Intelligent Agents, Object-Oriented Systems, Databases or Hardware Systems. A Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related area is required. The successful applicant will have demonstrated ability to perform research individually and within a group of other investigators, and will have excellent teaching potential. He or she will be expected to contribute to the teaching and research goals of the department, and to the development of the department and the University by being involved in service activities. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is the largest department in the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas, with 30 faculty members and a research volume of over $4 million in 1996. EECS offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Science, and has approximately 600 undergraduate and 180 graduate students.
