This project is funded by the European Unions's ACTS programme that deals with Advanced Telecommunication Technologies. It has several university and industrial partners in UK, Ireland, France, Italy and Sweden. The project deals with the use of multimedia telecommunications technologies for providing advice and help to claimants of Social Security, using publically accessible information kiosks. KIMSAC is conceived as a 3 year project, and has just completed its first 18-month phase. A pilot system, that makes use of agent technology, has been designed and implemented, and is now going for trial and evaluation. A successful applicant would be involved in the continued development, enhancement, integration and evaluation of the underlying multi-agent system and Personal Service Agent metaphor. A successful candidate would have a good knowledge of AI principles and engineering, would have a sound programming abilities and good communicative skills, and would be an enthusiastic contributor to a joint endeavour, with the ability to work as part of team as well as the ability to work independently.
