Possible SOFTBOT studentship in GEMISIS project
************************************************************
The GEMISIS 2000 project involves a collaboration between the cable
company NYNEX, University of Salford, Salford council and a variety of
community and business organisations to bring wide-band interactive
network information facilities to as many organisations in the area as
possible.
Potential projects include:
Virtual Chamber of Commerce
Wired City
Remote University
and a number of others.
Funding is being made available for studentships associated with these
projects through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and
these will be formally advertised shortly. Studentships will be
located at the University of Salford, will start in October, and will
involve registration for a PhD.
It is possible that one studentship might be in the area of Softbots -
the use of Software Agents to integrate and filter information in
response to particular user goals. Candidates for such a studentship
would need a 2(1) or above in a Computer Science or AI degree, or an
MSc in the same areas. Experience/interest in AI fields such as
planning and learning would be relevant as would programming
experience in interactive web applications.
If you would like to express informal interest in this project, please
send your CV to:
